The amazing Carolina Dogs! And no they aren't mutts! They came over the land bridge 11,000 years ago and lived and hunted with the American Indians. They were highly prized. When native Americans were exiled through the Trail of Tears to Oklahoma, the dogs stayed behind and lived and thrived in the wildness of coastal and the sandhills of Carolinas. As, man continued to build into the wildness, Carolina dogs started to find themselves in dog shelters. Usually, miss labeled, "Lab Mix". But they aren't. They are the rarest dog in the US and are distant relatives of the dingo. in 2006, Dr. Brisbane who had studied primitive dogs of Asia, made the connection. There are still packs of these wild dogs in SC, but mostly, they surface in shelters. I've been privileged to be the carer of a wild caught CD. There is no greater dog to hike with and in the evening, no greater dog to snuggle with. Wild outdoors... cream puffs, indoors. They're super smart, but they need protecting. So, I'm selling posters to help fund raise for Saving Carolina Dogs.  $60, free shipping!
